The Lobster Festival was first created in 1948 in Rockland as a way to bring the community together. In the decades that have followed, the Lobster Festival has become a nationwide sensation. As a non-profit event, its success has grown over the years due to the hard-working volunteers and the large number of people that attend the festival. The Lobster Festival hosts a variety of events that appeal to all age groups. These events include a parade, rides, cooking contests, a Sea Goddess competition, various concerts, and most importantly, a giant lobster cooker that provides the public with over 20,000 pounds of tasty lobster!
