Dream Local Digital’s Shannon Kinney Named ‘Woman to Watch’

MaineBiz announces this year’s ‘Women to Watch’ Awards

MaineBiz, a multimedia company providing business news, information and analysis for Maine business owners and executives, has announced their selections for this year’s Women to Watch. Starting in 2009, these annual recognitions highlight Maine women who are pioneers, role models and inspirations in their organizations and beyond. Primarily these women have been nominated by their peers in the industry and vetted through interviews within the business community.

Shannon Kinney, founder and client success officer of Dream Local Digital, was among this year’s five women chosen. After spending several years in Chicago, Silicon Valley and Boston working on various startups from Cars.com to the Real Cities Network as well as with media companies working on internet product development and digital revenue growth, Kinney moved back to Thomaston, Maine, near where she grew up. Just over four years ago she started her own business, with a mission to take her broad background and use it to build a local company on the cutting edge of new media and quite different than anything in the area at the time.

“I am so grateful to have been chosen for this prestigious honor amongst many other very talented women. It’s a proud moment for our entire team at Dream Local Digital to be recognized for the work we are doing helping businesses market themselves online and media companies grow digital revenue. ”

In true ‘tech startup’ fashion, the original team set up shop in Kinney’s garage in 2009, recently moved to Rockland, and is now renovating new space on Main Street to accommodate the growing team. Billed as a digital marketing agency, specializing in working with media organizations and small-medium sized businesses on their online marketing, social media, and public relations, Dream Local Digital is experiencing rapid growth as the marketing and advertising industries continue their online transformations.

The company has signed several new partners this year and is gathering momentum to expand significantly over the next year. This type of growth in the new media industry is somewhat unique in Maine, and will bring added visibility to the area from technology hubs like San Francisco and Boston, as well as providing new job opportunities in Maine and beyond.

MaineBiz did an update with Shannon in 2016 and 2018.
