The Next Generation LinkedIn Profile Has Arrived!
In October, LinkedIn announced that they would begin rolling out the next generation LinkedIn profile to users. Select users are now beginning to see their profiles making the transition to the sleek new look, which LinkedIn says will highlight each person’s professional story and provide an easier way to build relationships on the social channel.
LinkedIn users will receive email notifications when their profiles have been changed. The “See it now” button sends you directly to your new profile, where you can see exactly what changes have been made.
The new profile features larger areas for each category, including Activity, Background, Experience, Skills & Expertise, and Education. Users’ photos have also been enlarged at the top of the page, allowing the photo to stand out more than it did in LinkedIn’s previous visual layout.
One new feature of the new design is the way networks are displayed in the right-hand column of the profile page. Two diagrams explain the circles that each person is part of and the similarities between the user’s profile and the person viewing the profile. For the user, the column will help you learn more about your network, including people you may know and how people find you on LinkedIn.
For those LinkedIn users who absolutely HAVE to have the new profile, LinkedIn also offers the option to request an invitation for the new layout. (Psst! If you want to get on this waitlist, or if you want an interactive explanation of the new layout, visit this link: https://www.linkedin.com/profile/sample)
The new LinkedIn design hopes to help users develop new connections and professional relationships. All social media channels undergo updates and changes every once in a while; LinkedIn is working tirelessly to make this an easy and exciting transition for their users, and the excitement is certainly spreading!
