I’m Lydia Spencer, and I’m a Marketing Strategist that telecommutes from Dover Foxcroft, Maine. When I was eight years old my mother decided she was going to move back to Maine, her home state, to start her own horse farm. We lived on the North Shore of Massachusetts (Manchester-by-the-Sea to be exact) where having horses was expensive. Her dream was to move back to Maine where she could have land to grow her own hay and raise her own horses. So, that’s what she did and that’s how I ended up in Maine. I grew up in a beautiful 1890s farmhouse training horses and working on our horse farm.
I always had a love for drawing and painting so I decided I would study art in college. I studied fine art at the University of Maine and I loved it. I transferred to the New Hampshire Institute of Art for more intense study. After school I began painting commissioned portraits.
I moved back to my hometown of Dover Foxcroft after learning I was pregnant with my daughter. In recent years, I’ve had the opportunity to help a couple small businesses in my hometown get started in business, in doing so I developed a love for helping businesses communicate and tell their stories to the public. I find the passion and drive it takes to own and grow your own business remarkable and inspiring!
I still paint and ride horses any chance I get, as well as spend time with my incredible daughter and loving husband in our own little 1890s farmhouse in Dover Foxcroft, Maine.
