Get to know our newest #HoneyBadger, Emma.
I grew up in Midland, TX, a relatively small city in west Texas, aka the middle of nowhere. After I graduated from Midland High School, I enrolled at the University of Oklahoma, where I majored in public relations and minored in Sociology. While I was there I worked for the student-run public relations agency on campus as an account manager, working campaigns for local businesses.
One of my greatest accomplishments comes from the summer of 2015, when I worked at the OU Daily as a photographer, and had the opportunity to photograph President Barack Obama. In the summer of 2017, after graduating from OU, I moved to Portland, ME, to be close to my dad and try something different from Texas and Oklahoma. After driving 1,793 miles, I settled in and started an internship at Portland Magazine. That internship ultimately gave me the confidence and familiarity with the area that I needed to accomplish my short-term goals.
Both of my sisters are in the media business as well, with one working as a website designer in Austin, TX, and the other working as a video producer at the Associated Press in Cairo, Egypt. In my free time, I enjoy reading science fiction novels, and taking abstract photos with my Canon 6D. My heart is happiest when I am traveling and creating new experiences.
